Welcome LEA….

We are really excited to introduce you all to LEA. No, not a new member, but a CYA creation in conjunction with Warwick University Students for their “Theory and Practice of Community Engagement” Digital Engagment Module for the MASc in Community, Engagement, and Belonging

An illustration person named LEA. LEA is wearing a yellow tshirt with the CYA logo on. They have a brown and yellow hat with LEA written on. There is a speech bubble with the word "HI" inside. LEA is wearing glasses and is waving hat

LEA has been created as our virtual CYA member. They are here to teach, myth bust and show you how to take action online when you see hate, fake news or dog whistles.

 What LEA stands for:

Another illustration of LEA. They are holding a book in onehand and the other hand is pointing upwards to the word "Learn"

Learn: We want people to educate themselves when they see something online they think might be wrong.

Engage: We want people to know that you don’t need to be an expert to start engaging on an issue. There are lots of different ways people can involved. Asking the question “Where do I start?” is the first step towards becoming an ally.

LEA is holding their fist up. above their hand is the word "Act"

Act: We want people to become active allies to the disabled community (and CYA ) this means supporting, following and actively engaging with disabled people and groups online. Support their voices through yours!

Lea your online friend…

LEA represents a creative way (very CYA) of getting people to think about how they can be active allies to the disabled community online. CYA want people to question and call out hate, dog whistles and misinformation and we hope LEA is an online friend who can help you do that!

We are super excited to see how allies embrace LEA and can’t wait to hear how you get on with them!

Photos of CYA with the Warwick Uni students!

A group photo of CYA members and Warwick Uni students. This was taken at Warwick Uni. Everyone is looking at the camera and smiling.
